What: Ramble through the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens
When: Wednesday, January 22, 2025, 9:30 am – 2 pm
Where: Meet at the Skidaway Methodist Church at 9:30 am and we will drive to the Gardens at 2 Canebrake Rd, Savannah 31419 (15 miles).
Cost: Friends of the Gardens free, adults $ 5 paid onsite. Lunch is paid by the individual.
What else: Tour the Judge Solomon Camellia Trail and other gardens as time permits followed by lunch at Troy. Camellias are known as the Queen of Flowers for their gorgeous winter blooms in many colors. The Trail has numerous varieties so the bloom- period spans October through February. This is worth a visit every year. If time permits, we can see the new Children’s Garden and the location of the River of Iris to encourage you to return in the Spring.

What: Rambles visits the Savannah African Art Museum
When: Wednesday, February 19, 2025, 10 am – 2 pm
Where: Meet at the Skidaway Methodist Church at 10 am and drive to the museum at 201 E. 37th St (15 miles).
Cost: There is no admission fee for the museum or tours. Lunch is paid by the individual.
What else: We will have a docent-led tour of 3 Galleries of curated objects representing the art and culture of West to Central Africa. The rotating exhibit gallery will have a fresh exhibition installed only a few weeks before our visit. Following our visit we will have lunch at a restaurant within the neighborhood. The museum is a nonprofit institution that introduces all audiences to African Art and Culture and currently holds a collection of over 1,000 objects that originate from the continent of Africa. These are primarily from the 19th and 20th centuries and are made from various materials such as ceramics, metal and wood.

What: History Tour of Hilton HeadÂ
When: Monday, April 14Â leaving at 9am returning at about 3pm.
Where: Meet at the Skidaway Methodist Church and we will drive to the Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head to meet the motor coach for the 3–hour tour.
What Else: Explore the history of Hilton Head with a fascinating 3–hour tour on a comfortable motor coach with an expert historian. See Hilton Head Island through the eyes of early explorers and Native Americans. Walk the grounds of a plantation era home. Hear fascinating accounts of local pirate lore. Visit the oldest standing building on the island located in a Revolutionary War era cemetery. Discover Mitchelville – the first self–governed town of former slaves in the U.S. and hear forgotten stories of the Civil War and Reconstruction. Please plan for approximately 6 hours including travel time to and from Skidaway. There will be short walks so appropriate shoes are suggested.
